During our romantic escape, we found this beachfront hotel very charming. The open-air restaurant had delightful Costa Rican cuisine and peaceful views of the sunset. The staff was attentive and provided great recommendations for activities in town. We enjoyed the proximity to the local fruit market and bakery, and the fact that the hotel provides complimentary beach chairs. The overall ambiance of the hotel was perfect for a relaxing getaway.
The hotel room we stayed in was a bit outdated and could use some minor renovations. We did experience some bug bites during the night due to the open windows and lack of screens.

The pool was refreshing and nice. The beach they are situated at does not bode well for folks who would like to sit by the water, but I still enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the macaws fly around and play in the trees. The grounds folks were cleaning up the grounds while we were there, and they did a nice job of it. The nature surrounding the hotel is beautiful. I would recommend this hotel.

Spent Xmas in this cozy hotel and had a wonderful time. the breakfast was great, loved the rice and beans and the orange juice. the location is perfect, close to the national park and the boat docks. it has a stunning view of the ocean from the balcony. the neighborhood is friendly with lots of families.
The dinner options were limited, and there wasn't much of a selection. the room was a bit old and worn out, needing some renovations.

Nothing not to love. The neighborhood was small and not too touristy, but had a family-friendly vibe.

We recently stayed at a 3 BR apartment in Carara and were impressed by its spaciousness. the large patio with a grill was perfect for enjoying meals outdoors, and the kitchenette provided ample plates and utensils. Although there were limited pots and pans, we managed to cook most of our meals in the room. the bathroom was also spacious, and we were able to get warm water by simply adjusting the shower head. the views of the ocean and sunsets were exceptional, and the beach was quiet and uncommercialized. We particularly enjoyed watching the beautiful macaws fly and play in the trees outside our window. the breakfast served every morning was delicious and satisfying. It was also convenient to have groceries, a bakery, fish market, and fruit/vegetable market within walking distance. Cons: Nothing I didn't like to be fair. 😊.

During my recent stay at Hotel Carara, I had a truly authentic Costa Rican experience. The quiet neighborhood location provided a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing vacation. The views of the ocean and sunsets were absolutely breathtaking, and the beach was serene and uncrowded. The pool was clean and enjoyable, and the warm temperature made it even more inviting. The food at the hotel, both breakfast and dinner, was delicious and satisfying. I also appreciated the convenience of having various markets within walking distance for any necessities. One of the highlights of my stay was spotting scarlet macaws in the almond trees near the hotel, a truly memorable sight. my time at Hotel Carara was enjoyable and I would highly recommend it for those seeking an authentic and peaceful Costa Rican vacation.

The hotel had a nice swimming pool, perfect for cooling off on hot days. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making our stay more enjoyable. the hotel was conveniently located near the beach, allowing us to easily catch breathtaking sunset views and enjoy leisurely walks along the shore.
Our room had a few maintenance issues such as a hole in the mosquito net and some ants in the bathroom. It would have been helpful to have more amenities in the bathroom, like hangers for wet towels and clothes.
